Italian School (17th century) - Descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles

The painting, made in oil on canvas and in excellent condition, is already lined.
The dimensions of the painting with the frame are 76cmx58.5cm, while they are 69cmx51cm without.

It depicts "Pentecost." As you can see, the figures depicted are the Madonna and the apostles, with the Holy Spirit above, symbolized by the dove.
In addition to the apostles, depicted with various expressions of wonder and amazement at what is happening, there are also various books on the floor of the room where the characters are.

The painting dates back to the second half of the 17th century. The composition is divided into two levels, according to the dictates of Trent. The section containing the apostles is painted in bright colors, while the section depicting the Holy Spirit at the top is rendered in the yellow typical of sunlight.

The school of the artist who created this work is Italian, and similar compositions exist on the market, although in this case the quality is excellent. Just look at the faces, the hands, the quality of the draperies, and the realism of the poses and expressions of the characters, rendered with great skill.
