This is a wonderful and fascinating landscape depicting Venus and Cupid in a predominantly natural setting, with an active volcano in the background. The work is attributable to Francisque Millet (1642-1679). The three-dimensional rendering of clouds distinguishes many of Poussin's works, of whom Millet was a skilled disciple. It should be remembered that the painter also depicted various landscapes at twilight and with volcanoes.

This painting is an oil on canvas measuring 71.5cmx57cm without frame and 83cmx69.5cm including the frame.

The condition of conservation is excellent and only a small flaw is noticeable on the back of the work, with the signature of the restorer who applied it in ancient times.
The atmosphere of the painting is evocative, and various tree species are depicted. Nature provides a magnificent backdrop for the two figures in the foreground.

A certificate of authenticity and expertise from Professor Cardinali are attached.

Returns are accepted within 14 days of delivery. Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the buyer.

The painting will be carefully packaged in a wooden crate. It cannot be shipped outside the European Union.
