This painting dates back to the second half of the 17th century or the early 18th century. It is a fairly large oil on canvas.
The measurements without the frame are 70cmx96cm, while with the frame the measurements are 91cmx116.5cm.

It is a landscape that takes inspiration from the models of Salvator Rosa, a landscape painter who lived in the seventeenth century, but uses a very vivid chromatic range and greater sfumato.
The leaves are rendered with great attention to detail. A river flows to the left, and figures, perhaps inspired by classical literature, stand nearby.

The frame is contemporary with the painting and is made of solid carved wood. It is a very valuable piece. It is heavy.

The item will be shipped via Mail Boxes etc. It cannot be shipped outside the European Union. The frame, which will be shipped with care and appropriate packaging, is however to be considered a free gift.
A certificate of authenticity will be issued.
